2019 Update
Many years have passed since this blog materialised and the comings and goings of just about everything that went on before in Nanning and China can no longer be relied upon today.
Much of the information on this blog is no longer fully valid but does provide good insight into how things were or could be once again.
The cost of living has changed dramatically and not only because of the exchange rates.
Very many expats from the past have either sadly died or moved away, it is fair to say a few die hards remain not necessarily in Nanning but still in China.
The many get togethers by the Nanning expats that were numerous, regular and well attended now sadly no longer happen.
Nowadays we have the China Expat Vloggers online where their viewers form the pack along with the ubiquitous Wumao either for or against depending on the Vloggers viewpoint.
The desires of many western males has dwindled when it comes to Chinese women, although once again there is still the odd bloke that takes the trouble to find a partner and visits full of potential for his and her future.
Looking back over the years in Nanning very many buildings and areas have changed, the road layouts have changed, the public transport system has changed including partial opening of subway.(Work in progress) All making for better travelling situations throughout China.
The public mood has changed.
The population of Nanning has grown hugely.
The western internet is effectively blocked.
VPN's are now the order of the day along with those proper tasty noodle dishes.
