Marriage in China
The marriage procedure in China is different to what you might expect in the UK.
The actual marriage formalities are carried out in a very matter of fact way, just a visit to an official marriage office with the required documentation and if all is in order, then you are married. Casual clothes are acceptable.
The wedding banquet (reception) can and sometimes is carried out a few days later, this is when the formal marriage clothes would be worn and the official wedding photographs are taken. It is acceptable for the wedding banquet to be held immediately after the marriage formalities also. The decision is yours...
Both male and female applicants must comply with the Chinese Marriage Law and relevant regulations. This means, all you have stated in your Statutory Declaration is true and that you accept Chinese Marriage law.
If you have any doubts and concerns about this then you must seek further Legal advice, an English speaking Chinese lawyer in China would be a good starting point.

I'm an Aussie. I got married in Nanning in Sept 2010. Its all pretty simple providing you have all the correct documentation. It pays to plan the buffet a few days later in case things don't go exactly to plan..............
